Adopt the Ideal Structure for Dissertation

Sometimes, scholars fail to score high in their dissertations despite conducting a noteworthy research. This is because of some weak point in their report; they fall short in their documentation. As an academic author you must realize that it is not enough to have a great idea or exemplary content; the manner in which you put it in writing also matters. Sequence of chapters

Though most dissertations have a set order I which chapters are presented, you must confirm from your supervisor the sequence that you are supposed to follow. Such sequence is important in order to maintain a logical flow and ensure proper presentation.

Even the non-chapter sections like table of contents and bibliography must be placed as per the guidelines. They impact the overall look of the report and make it more readable.

Paragraph structure

The paragraph is a unit of content which holds one idea. So, every new opinion or idea must be mentioned in a new paragraph. Moreover, each paragraph should have an introduction and a conclusion, even if just one sentence long. The introduction or topic sentence will state the core idea that is being discussed in that paragraph.

All the sentences within the paragraph must be written in a cohesive manner. Paragraphs must contain indent as required by the concerned style. Steer clear of very long paragraphs. If one topic stretches too long, break it in two or more paragraphs.

Sentence construction

Even at the very basic level of writing, i.e. drafting sentences, you must follow some rules. When writing complex or compound sentences, make sure you use appropriate conjunctions and punctuations. If there are clauses or phrases in a sentence, they must be properly integrated.

If you can attain perfection in each sentence and paragraph that you compose, then your report will undoubtedly be impressive. Structural flaws can be avoided through careful revision.
